E128 Late Autism Diagnosis, Perimenopause and Finding Yourself Beneath the Masks with Jade Treen

Late Autism Diagnosis, Perimenopause and Finding Yourself Beneath the Masks with Jade Treen

What happens when the masks you have worn throughout your life become impossible to maintain?

In this episode of Through a Trauma-Informed Lens: Soma, Psyche & Soul, I speak with Trauma-Informed Somatic Teacher & Coach for Women® graduate Jade Treen.

Jade is a somatic coach working online with late diagnosed neurodivergent women in perimenopause. She was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 48 after perimenopause intensified her traits and contributed to a significant period of burnout. She shares the relief of finally understanding herself, the grief for the life she might have experienced had she known earlier, and her decision to stop hiding such an important part of who she is.

We explore:

  • The relationship between late autism diagnosis, perimenopause and burnout

  • Masking, people-pleasing and chronic over-giving

  • Why “no is a complete sentence”

  • Building safety and trust within the nervous system

  • Discovering who you are beneath the masks

  • Jade’s transition from yoga teacher and corporate employee to somatic coach

  • How trauma-informed training changed the way she supports women

  • Integrating the body, mind, conscious self and unconscious self

Helping neurodivergent women embrace and embody their uniqueness

Jade also shares how completing the certification gave her the ethical foundation, coaching framework and confidence she needed to leave the corporate world and fulfil a dream she had carried for decades.
