WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA TEACHER
We are living in undeniably challenging times. From the global shifts and ongoing uncertainty to the collective and personal impacts of lockdown and disconnection, the mental health and wellbeing of both ourselves and those we serve are more important than ever. As yoga teachers, space holders, and practitioners, we are being called to meet this moment with greater compassion, sensitivity, and skill.
At the Golden Mandala Somatic Coach Academy (formerly Golden Mandala Yoga-Soma Institute) our approach is rooted in the understanding that trauma lives in the body, and so does healing. This workshop is an invitation to explore how we can create safer, more inclusive, and empowering yoga spaces that honour the full human experience.
Through a trauma-informed lens and somatic approach, you will learn how to support your students and clients to gently reconnect with their bodies, foster resilience, and build trust in their internal experience. We focus not only on what we do as practitioners but how we can do it in the best possible way - with deep presence, attunement, and respect for individual autonomy and lived experience.
This course offers practical tools and somatic practices to help your students and clients become more safely embodied. You will gain a foundational understanding of how to work in a trauma-aware, nervous system-friendly way, integrating principles of safety, choice, consent, and empowerment into your teaching.
Over the past 5 years I have run 11 cohorts of 50/80-Hr Trauma-informed Yoga and Embodied Resilience Teacher Training and over dozens of workshops like this one. My intention is for you to leave with more confidence, clarity, and embodied understanding of how trauma-informed yoga can profoundly support the healing and resilience of your community - and yourself.
“It is so rare and refreshing to take a yoga teacher training course that is secular and backed by current scientifically informed thinking and applies that knowledge to the whole practice of yoga without descending into received wisdom and spiritual bypassing.”
